About NCHS

Newton Community High School, home of approximately 450 students, is part of a rural school district with strong community support. NCHS boasts successful vocational programs for career readiness students and a wide range of dual credit classes for college bound students. Several students earn the distinction of Illinois State Scholars each year. The teaching staff, of which more than half hold a Master’s Degree and two National Board Certified teachers, are dedicated to promoting academic excellence. With 72% of the student body involved in extra-curricular activities and clubs, NCHS provides numerous avenues for students to enrich their overall educational experience. NCHS is widely known for its marching band that consists of over 140 members, its nationally recognized FFA judging program, as well as a district and state recognized student council program. These are just three of the more than 30 clubs and sports offered throughout the year to benefit students. In addition to academic excellence and extra-curricular involvement, students are encouraged to participate in various community service projects and to be upstanding citizens. That is why at NCHS, we are “Leading by Example, Striving for Success”.
